Chubba Purdy commits to Nebraska Cornhuskers, bringing BIG 12 experience

Purdy spent last season at Florida State, where he threw for 1,851 yards and 16 touchdowns.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have added some much-needed quarterback depth with the commitment of Chubba Purdy. Purdy spent last season at Florida State, where he threw for 1,851 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also rushed for 203 yards and three touchdowns.

Purdy is a 6-foot-2, 220-pound quarterback who is originally from Gilbert, Arizona. He was a four-star recruit in the 2021 class and chose Florida State over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, and Oklahoma. Purdy is the son of former NFL quarterback Sean, who played for the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and Kansas City Chiefs.

Purdy is expected to compete for the starting quarterback job at Nebraska. He will join a quarterback room that includes Logan Smothers, Heinrich Haarberg, and Richard Torres. Purdy is a talented quarterback with a lot of upside. He is a good passer with a strong arm and good accuracy. He is also a good runner and can make plays with his feet. Purdy is a welcome addition to the Nebraska Cornhuskers and should help the team improve its quarterback play in 2023.
